There's a lot to do and see in the surroundings of Lucca!
A short drive will take you to the country side with vineyards and olive trees framing the landscape.
The splendid Garfagnana, a large territory that lies between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
Visit its small characteristic villages and across its entire territory there are beautiful paths, routes and itineraries of historical-naturalistic interest.
Entirely crossed by the Serchio River, its land is rich in history and traditions,
The Grotta del Vento (Wind Cave), is a captivating sequence of incredible shapes carved in rock and offers a marvelous day out.
And you have to discover the charming and perfectly preserved medieval town of Barga ( also known as the most Scottish town in Italy due to its large emigration to Scotland in the 19th and 20th centuries ) with its splendid Duomo on a mountain top that offers a fantastic view in every direction.
A must visit is the Bridge of Mary Magdalene ( better known as the Devil’s Bridge) in Borgo a Mozzano: a superb example of medieval architecture, still intact, and according to a legend, built with the help of the Devil! Probably one of the most spectacular bridges in Italy with its unique profile, with a huge round arch and three smaller arches.
